Granny Bell Turns 80!

Granny Bell Turns 80!

Friday night we celebrated my mom's 80th birthday. Wow, in just the blink of an eye I will be the one cutting the cake and reading the cards. Time is moving much more quickly than I ever imagined.

As I wrote in her card, she has always been a measuring stick for me.She has been an example of forgiveness, hard work, righteous living and unconditional love. I have so much to learn from her. It is no wonder sheis so beautiful at this age, it comes from within.

Words cannot express how much I love my mom.

General Conference

“Day One” of my online journal. What a great day to begin as it is General Conference. Dave and I are in Scottsdale for a few days. It is freeing to get away from the busyness of life at home.

As I listen to conference today I am struck by a few things. These are messages that seem to my ears to have been repeated several times during the past few days:1. If you love me, feed my sheep (Elder Holland, Elder Cook)2. We all need to do our family history work.

As I am soon to be released from my calling as Primary President I have sought to know what I should do with the time that will be opened up with my release. I had received the inspiration that it was time to get back to what I started years ago…family history. It isn't necessarily the answer I wanted to receive but today's messages have strengthened my commitment to buckle down and do this important work. I am not a puzzle person. I don't even like doing a children's puzzle. I know that I will need to rely upon the help of others and upon the inspiration that I know will come as I immerse myself in this important work.

I am trying to fulfill the blessings and admonishments given to me in my patriarchal blessing.
